Christ First Church is a church of the Baptist faith and doctrine. Pastor Wayne describes the ministry as “conservative in theology and loving in methodology”.
We believe the Bible to be the Holy, infallible, and inerrant Word of God.
At Christ First Church, the Word of God is our guide and inspiration. The New Testament dictates who and what we are as a congregation. It tells us how to govern the church and teaches us how to live our lives.
II Timothy 3:16-17 ”All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
CHRIST… Our Lord and Savior! Christ First Church is about Christ. We worship Him. We exist to honor Him. Our lives are to be lived for Him and His glory and that alone.
Philippians 3:3 “For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh”
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Philippians 1:21 “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
FIRST… It is our desire at Christ First Church to put Christ first in everything we do. He is considered first in our planning before anyone or anything else. Furthermore, He is first in our hearts. First is His rightful place.
Philippians 1:20 “as it is my eager expectation and my hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.
CHURCH…We are a church! A family of believers who meet to worship. We are not a club or organization or even a fellowship. We are a Church called of God to encourage the saints, exhort one another and to evangelize a world with the message of Christ.
Acts 2:47 “And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”
Ephesians 5:27 “so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.”
Colossians 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.”
Christ First Church was founded by Wayne Chasteen in 2012 as an extension of his ministry, Rhyme & Reason. The church is a large vision concept encompassing a multifaceted call to faithfulness and evangelism.
C1C is an interracial, multi-cultural congregation that believes in the fact that Jesus died once and for all, and that we are all in need of salvation by His grace, without exception. It is at the heart of Christ First Church to reach out to those lost and hurting. To the LOST, because we are compelled. To the HURTING, because we are compassionate.
Jude 1:22-23a “And of some have compassion, make a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire…”
Our call, first then, is to evangelize our world and share the message of Jesus Christ without favoritism. Secondly, we resolve to embrace with open arms and minds those who have been hurt, or broken from the fall, to restore such, to a place of health and usefulness. So then, we pledge to God, first and foremost, our LIVES, and to the world, our LOVE.
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Christ First Church is a large vision concept encompassing a multifaceted call to faithfulness and evangelism. C1C is an interracial, multicultural congregation that believes in the fact that Jesus died once and for all, and that we are all in need of salvation. We are a fully inclusive, sensory friendly congregation that invites you to join us.

Wayne Chasteen answered the call of ministry in 1985 and was a full time pastor for ten years. In 1996, he founded the evangelistic ministry Rhyme and Reason.
Today Wayne is a highly sought after Bible conference speaker and evangelist. He and his music team, Rhyme & Reason, travel extensively around the world singing and sharing the message of Christ. In 2001 Rhyme & Reason became Artist Associates with the Christian humanitarian organization, World Vision. Since that time, the ministry of Rhyme & Reason has affected more than 25,000 lives around the world through procurement of child sponsorships.
In 2012, Wayne Chasteen and Rhyme & Reason once again answered the call of God to expand their ministry adding CHRIST FIRST CHURCH to their ministry effort. Together, Rhyme & Reason, World Vision, and Christ First Church have the potential to effect change in the world through the work and help of the Holy Spirit.
Lord Jesus, I’m like everyone else – I can’t make it through life on my own. I’m imperfect. I’m prone to sin. I have come to realize that there’s nothing in the world I can do to make myself acceptable to You. But I know that You have loved me so much that You were willing to submit to the cross and die on my behalf. That’s a grace so amazing I cannot understand it; I can only accept it. And I do. I accept Your free gift, and I know that from this moment on, I am saved. I am a child of God. And I give the rest of my life to serving You and experiencing the joy that only You can offer. Fill me now, dear Lord, and raise me to walk in the newness of life. I thank You and praise You! Amen.
